What a day as the highly anticipated Fechte-Anderson reception finally arrived! We worked with this wonderful bride & groom for 2 years on their big day and we’re so excited that everything turned out beautifully! The drapery was a custom design done by The Aries Company. The incredible centerpieces were by Butler’s Pantry Design Studio. And we always love working with Absolutely IN! – the planner who helped finalize all the details. Downtown Revitalization Continues With New Venue

Downtown Revitalization Continues With New Venue
September 3, 2015
By Tarina

Butler’s Pantry, St. Louis’ premier catering company, has transformed the machine hall of the former power plant which resides on the old City Hospital campus into an intimate event space – Joule (pronounced Jewel). Built in 1937, the campus had languished in Lafayette Square for over 20 years until Butler’s Pantry renovated the former City Hospital laundry facility into St. Louis’ premier event venue – Palladium Saint Louis. Now, continued restoration of the historic campus is complete and Butler’s Pantry is preparing to open Joule for its first event this September.

Joule is a standalone event venue that adds additional ambiance to Palladium Saint Louis and the former City Hospital campus. Included in the venue’s design is an outdoor plaza, perfect for celebrations, which connects Joule, Butler’s Pantry and Palladium Saint Louis.

“Guests can host a wedding ceremony, rehearsal dinner, networking reception or special event at Joule,” said Richard Nix Jr., President of Butler’s Pantry.

Conveniently located on the same renovated property, Joule is an ideal venue for intimate gatherings while Palladium Saint Louis is well suited for mid-to-large celebrations.

“Now, Butler’s Pantry can accommodate every celebration on the same campus,” continued Nix. “Guests can host their entire event at the new venue or plan for a ceremony at Joule with a reception at Palladium Saint Louis. Additionally, guests can host a cocktail hour at Joule followed by dinner and dancing at Palladium Saint Louis. The possibilities are endless!”

Architectural designer Mark Herman orchestrated the building’s metamorphosis into a modern industrial and hip venue. His interior design team collaborated with Butler’s Pantry to create a sophisticated ambiance with sleek decor. Guests will enjoy any gathering at Joule, with its two-story windows providing an abundance of natural light.

Joule is a spectacular 4,200 square foot space, designed to accommodate up to 300 guests. The venue offers split level seating with ample space for a band and dance floor. Additional parking was added to the property to provide plenty of availability on-site. The complete renovation cost $400,000.

Coffee & Donuts, A Perfect Combo

This recent wedding at Palladium Saint Louis was full of beautiful AND delectable elements. The gorgeous centerpieces were whimsical & lent a bright pop of color to the room.

The donut station was a definite crowd pleaser… and the first one we’ve seen at Palladium! Dozens & dozens of donuts (14 dozen donuts & 43 dozen donut holes, to be exact) from Donut Delight took the place of a wedding cake and guests could not get enough! The coffee & donut combo were almost as perfect of a match as the couple themselves. Congrats to Jenna & Todd!

Gorgeous succulents adorned the cake & tables at this romantic wedding earlier this year at the Palladium, bringing in a natural element to the event. These desert plants were also used in the boutonnieres and bouquets. A dessert tower featuring a variety of sweets like cannolis, gooey butter & dobash cake brought a whimsical feel to the wedding. Attorney William Bolster Selected for the 2015 Superhero for Kids Award

Award will be presented at the St. Louis Arc’s Superheroes for Kids event on April 23

By Courtney Chazen

March 19, 2015

St. Louis, Mo. (March 19, 2015) – St. Louis Arc is pleased to announce the selection of William “Bill” Bolster as the recipient of the 2015 Superhero for Kids award.  Bolster, a member of the St. Louis law firmLewis, Rice & Fingersh, L.C., is chairman of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Chapter of Autism Speaks.  The Superheroes for Kids award was established by the St. Louis Arc in 2013 to honor extraordinary leaders for their work on behalf of children with developmental disabilities.

“Bill Bolster has been a steadfast advocate for Missouri families who have a child with autism,” said Kathy Meath, St. Louis Arc President and CEO. “His tireless persistence in the legislature hasled to the passing of a bill which required health insurance companies to cover the diagnosis and treatment of autism in children. Bill continues to fight for Missourians by advocating for the passage of the Missouri ABLE Act. This legislation will help people and families who are trying to save for the future care of their family member with a disability, so that they can live better lives with greater financial security.”

The award and a superhero cape will be presented to Bolster on April 23, 2015 at the St. Louis Arc’sSuperheroes for Kids event at the Palladium Saint Louis. This cocktail fundraiser raises awareness about the therapy services provided by St. Louis Arc to children with disabilities. Guests are invited to channel their inner comic book heroes by dressing in superhero chic costumes.  For information or tickets for the event visit www.slarc.org or call (314) 817-2241.

St. Louis Society for the Blind & Visually Impaired Hosting the Visionary Gala on 4.25

Internationally Distinguished Leslie Dana Award will be Presented at VIP Reception & Fundraising Dinner

St. Louis, Missouri… You are cordially invited to join leaders in business, medicine, media, philanthropy, and social work as the St. Louis Society for the Blind & Visually Impaired hosts The Visionary Gala awards dinner on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at The Palladium Saint Louis.

The Society’s Visionary Gala will be highlighted by the presentation of the internationally distinguished Leslie Dana Gold Medal to Dr. Napoleone Ferrara, Distinguished Professor of Pathology from UC San Diego School of Medicine.  Society is pleased to present the Community Partnership Award to the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (St Louis Arch) for making the Arch and the Museum of Westward Expansion accessible to those with visual impairments.

The Society’s Legacy of Leadership Award will be presented to Ms. Alice Conway for her tireless efforts in advocating for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Drs. Sherine and Rajendra Apte are chairing the event and are joined by sponsors AT&T, Lighthouse for the Blind-Saint Louis, Northern Trust Company and Bethesda Health Group.

The Leslie Dana Gold Medal has been presented by the Society since 1925 to a scholar or clinician for commendable service in eyesight research, ophthalmology, vision sciences and related social services. Dr. Napoleone Ferrara is a molecular biologist who pioneered development of new treatments for cancer and age-related macular degeneration. He discovered vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) and made the first VEGF antibody, which suppresses growth of a variety of tumors. These findings helped lead to development of the first clinically available anti-angiogenesis inhibitor drug which has become part of standard treatment for a variety of cancers. Ferrara’s work also led to the application of these anti-angiogenesis drugs to the subset of macular degeneration in which neovascular growth can be inhibited or arrested with intraocular injection of anti-VEGF medications.

Tickets to The Visionary Gala are $175 per person or $1,400 for a table of eight. For event details, please call the Society at 314.968.9000 or see the Society website at http://SLSBVI.org/.

Founded in 1911, the not-for-profit St. Louis Society for the Blind & Visually Impaired enhances independence, empowers individuals and enriches the lives of people who are blind and visually impaired and their families. Its caring, committed staff provides specialized Vision Rehabilitation, Orientation & Mobility, Adaptive Education, Assistive Technology, Children’s Services and Support Services.

The Society provides older adults who are newly visually impaired or blind due to age-related eye conditions with home-based services, specialized agency services and community activities. It also renders services to school-age students in Illinois and Missouri. It is the only agency of its kind serving greater St. Louis, and the second oldest of its kind west of the Mississippi River.
